COMMERCIAL INTRUDER ALARM SYSTEMS
Most Commercial Intruder Alarm Systems are installed as part of the clients Insurance Cover and are graded according to the risk involved and amount of cover required.
Normally the Insurers will advise on the grade of system required but if this is not available at the time of their visit a fully trained Surveyor will carry out a risk assessment of the property and will provide a full written Specification with the suggested grade of system for approval prior to installation.
DOMESTIC ALARM SYSTEMS
In the last few years due to modern technology and improved reliability ‘wirefree’ alarms have become more popular than the conventional ‘hardwired’ systems in the home and are no more expensive.
The benefits are that the installation can be carried out quickly and neatly with no wires on show or any disruption associated with concealing them by lifting carpets or floorboards. Setting and unsetting the system is also made easier by the use of a fixed keypad in the hall area or from a wireless fob which allows you to ‘fully set’ or ‘part set’ from anywhere in the home, which is particularly useful if you want certain rooms protected at night when going to bed.
An added benefit is that the fob also doubles up as a wireless panic button, which can be used to activate the alarm sounders or to summon help if needed in an emergency 24hrs a day. Another advantage is that if you move the system can be easily removed and reinstalled in your new home.
ON ACTIVATION OF THE ALARM
An audible and visual alarm warning will be initiated both inside and outside the property, together with the option, if required, of electronic signal transmission to a 24hr Alarm Receiving Centre, from where, on verification of the alarm signal, the appropriate authorities, Police and key holders can be alerted to respond.
The type of signalling specified will vary according to the Grade of System required and quite often the insurance risk involved, from basic audible only systems and conventional Digital Communication up to the higher security Dual Path Signalling Systems via BT Redcare or Dualcom, with secondary back up signalling via the GSM network in the event of a telephone line failure.
If the alarm is not switched off by an authorised key holder within 20 minutes the audible sounders will automatically cut off and re-arm.
